Involvement in our lab is an excellent opportunity for both undergraduate and graduate level PhD students to obtain research experience in topics relevant to clinical and health psychology. Undergraduate Students

 

Volunteer

The Psycho-Oncology Lab is currently recruiting volunteers.

Volunteer research assistants are expected to meet the following criteria:

  • Completed PSYCH 248 (Statistics)
  • Completed 2+ psychology courses
  • GPA 3.0+
  • Punctuality, attention to detail, professionalism, conscientiousness, and strong interpersonal skills
  • Able to commit to 12 hours per week (Monday-Friday) for at least one year

Independent Study & Theses

The Psycho-Oncology Lab accepts Hunter and CUNY Graduate Center undergraduate and graduate students for independent study and honors theses completion as an addition to lab participation as a volunteer. Those who would like to complete an independent study or thesis in the lab will meet the following criteria.

Independent Study PSYCH 201/395

  • Completed PSYCH 248 (Statistics)
  • Completed at least 2 psychology courses
  • GPA 3.0+
  • Punctuality, attention to detail, professionalism, conscientiousness, and strong interpersonal skills
  • Able to commit to 15 hours per week (Monday-Friday) during the semester of independent study, and 12 hours per week for the remainder of the year

 

Thesis BA: PSYCH 396 & 398

  • Majoring in Psychology
  • Completed PSYCH 248 (Statistics) & 249/250 (Experimental)
  • Completed at least 2 psychology courses
  • GPA 3.0+
  • GPA 3.5+ in all psychology courses
  • Punctuality, attention to detail, professionalism, conscientiousness, and strong interpersonal skills
  • Able to commit to 15 hours per week (Monday-Friday) during honors thesis enrollment, and 12 hours per week for the remainder of the year

Prospective Doctoral Students

Dr. Ford will be accepting a doctoral student for Fall 2025. She will be prioritizing applicants who are interested in psycho-oncology and pediatric, adolescent and young adult health. The ideal applicant will have research goals that align with the work done in the Psycho-Oncology Lab, will be prepared to be mentored on collaborative and individual projects, and seek training (e.g., courses, research collaborations) that crosses clinical and health psychology.
