Some lab members took a field trip to the James Earl Jones Theater in midtown Manhattan on Tuesday to see Left on Tenth, a play based on Delia Ephron’s memoir of the same name, which has a central focus on Ephron’s experience with cancer: years after both her sister and her husband pass away from cancer, Delia herself is diagnosed with leukemia. The play explores challenges around detection, treatment, remission, and recurrence, and ultimately illustrates the power of social connection through illness and adversity.
